Welcome to our newest members

We’re delighted to have welcomed four new members to The Coalition over the last two months. The Aotearoa New Zealand Review of Books; The Commuting Book; Wharerangi: The Māori Literature Hub; and Wheelers have joined our community and collaborative efforts to raise the visibility of books and writers from Aotearoa.

The Aotearoa New Zealand Review of Books (ANZRB)

The ANZRB publishes long-form reviews of new local fiction, nonfiction and poetry. It is a platform for timely, in-depth discussions of contemporary literature and culture and features established and emerging reviewers from the South Pacific. In addition, ANZRB founder Paula Morris runs a review mentorship programme and skills workshops focussed on long-form reviewing through the platform.

The Commuting Book

A community-based organisation that aims to promote an appreciation and love of reading as a source of knowledge and entertainment by bringing literature to public spaces and into people’s daily activities.  Initiatives include the distribution of books on public transport and Stories on the Go, a curated and ever-changing collection featuring stories by Aotearoa New Zealand writers and publishers made available through QR codes in bus stops around the country.

Wharerangi: The Māori Literature Hub

Wharerangi means storehouse or raised platform, and this is the site’s kaupapa: to provide a packed storehouse of information for Māori writers of fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry, and a platform for Māori publications—from a one-off story to a full-length book. Each section supplies information and links for opportunities, including places to read contemporary Māori literature and publish new work.

Wheelers

Wheelers is a New Zealand owned company with an unparalleled capability to supply international, New Zealand, Māori and Pasifika book collections. It is dedicated to supporting public libraries and schools to inspire their local communities and students through education, literacy and accessibility. Wheelers offers a vast range of services, a passionate team of experts and a commitment to sustainability, along with a genuine passion for books.
