Celebrating the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards shortlist

Ka rawe and congratulations to the writers and publishers of the sixteen books shortlisted for this year’s Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.

Kete has been promoting and celebrating these books over the last 24 hours with a guide to the shortlist. The Coalition for Books is also excited to see a number of titles featured in our Māori Books | Ngā Pukapuka Māori 2024 and Pasifika Books 2024 catalogues among the finalists, including There’s a Cure for This by Emma Espiner, Ngātokimatawhaorua: the biography of a waka by Jeff Evans and An Indigenous Ocean: Pacific Essays by Damon Salesa.

In February, when the longlist was announced Kete published ‘The Kete guide to reading your way through the Ockham Awards non-fiction longlist’ and ‘The Kete guide to reading your way through the Ockham Awards fiction and poetry longlists’.

RNZ republished the guide to the fiction and poetry longlist on their platform here.
